“AHOY!” was probably the word on the minds of many, as 73 families were greeted by Asia’s largest cruise ship, Mariner of the Seas as they embarked on a relaxing 4-day, 3-night retreat on board Royal Caribbean Cruise to Port Klang. It was the first for many on board the cruise, especially the children who were fascinated by the variety of activities provided on board the ship, ranging from dining, shopping and entertainment, one key feature being the Dreamworks Experience parade.
Workshops on “Caregiver’s Challenge and Coping” and “Understanding How Mind and Body Influence Our Well-being” were conducted to enrich the parents and caregivers, and better equip them with skills to cope with demands in life. A BRIDGE Graduation Ceremony was held, where beneficiaries who have turned 21 years of age received their graduate certificates, to mark the significant milestone in their life as they advanced beyond Club Rainbow.
The cruise presented an excellent platform for the beneficiaries and families to enjoy quality time together, while taking away valuable knowledge and skills that they could employ in their daily lives. As majority of the facilities on board the cruise were wheelchair-friendly, those with mobility issues were also able to revel in the travelling experience.
